A glass apart

“No work required” is normally part of the appeal when buying a brand new home. But David Reid wanted to make a few tweaks…
“I wanted to put my own stamp on the house, possibly because it was a new build, and I didn’t wait that long – probably about 6 months. The house originally had four bedrooms, two with en suites. I chose to lose bedroom four, which I had been using as a study, and create a large master bedroom suite complete with a spacious dressing room.”
What has really transformed the property’s status from new build to home is the addition of a stunning garden room, which David commissioned from conservatory specialists, Mozolowski & Murray. “My brief to them was not a conservatory, which I think they’ve achieved. I wanted to link the house with the garage so internally and externally it all merged into one. I think it makes the conservatory become a real part of the house – more what I would call a garden room. The linked area also allows me to have the study tucked away but accessible, and it’s a design which enables you to see out of the front and back of the house, which I really like.”
