Sustainability
Playing our part in building a sustainable future
At Mozolowski & Murray, we take an uncompromising approach to achieving long term customer satisfaction by not simply selecting the optimum materials and manufacturing techniques to produce the highest possible quality and build for our clients, but we do so in an ethical and sustainable way, earning us an unrivalled industry leading reputation.

The source of hardwood used by Mozolowski & Murray is an integral part of our commitment to sustainability and is why we partner with Timbnet Silverman to ensure that suitable timber is supplied from well managed and legal forestry sources. All of our hardwood is obtained from Indonesia and Malaysia through a limited number of suppliers, all of whom are evaluated by Timbnet Silverman. Our main timber supplier in Indonesia is a member of the Tropical Forest Trust (TFT) and works from a strictly controlled management programme towards independent certification.

All additional timber products that we source from Malaysia, have been evaluated through Timbnet Silverman’s supply assessment system which works to determine whether the timber or wood contained in a product is traceable to the forest origin, legally harvested and from a well-managed forest.
An independent consultancy advises Timbnet Silverman on implementing this system and provides checks on the validity and veracity of the information they hold on suppliers.

All of our timber is FSC certified which further demonstrates our commitment to taking care of forests as well as the people and the wildlife who call them home. The FSC is recognised by WWF as the “hallmark of responsible forest management”.

Selecting the most technologically advanced materials also plays an important part in sustainable construction and living. Every Mozolowski & Murray project incorporates Low Emission high performance glass. Low E glass is the perfect insulating material reflecting heat back into the room and reducing heat loss by over 75%. It is the equivalent of triple glazing and because of its unique solar protection qualities, will not only make your Conservatory warm in the winter but it will also keep you cool during the summer months.

Sustainability is central to what we do. Whether it’s how we source our materials, the properties of our insulation or the thermal efficiency of our glass, we will continue to work hard in retaining our place as market leaders in sustainable design and build.

We are proud of our heritage

Mozolowski & Murray was established at the end of World War 2 by Polish national, Henri Mozolowski. Henri fought with the British Army in Europe and made his home in Scotland after the war.

An electrician to trade, Henri set up Mozolowski and Son. The post war economic boom enabled Henri to significantly expand his enterprise and he was quickly employing a large workforce and building a strong industry reputation. In the 1960s he again expanded his business, adding joinery and general building trades to his Fife based firm.

He built a workshop crafting timber doors, windows, staircases and furniture as demand increased and the business continued to grow.
Understanding integrity starts with knowing what is right and true and holding fast to these values, even when it is not convenient, visible or to your benefit.
