How long have you been with Mozolowski & Murray (M&M) and what is your role within the company?

I have been with M&M for 9 years and I am a Factory Joiner specialising in roof design and build. I am solely responsible for making all the roofs for every bespoke product from simple structures to very complex ones. My skill is in ensuring that each roof fits to exact specifications so no matter how complex the build, there is absolute symmetry throughout! While my job is key to the business I couldn’t do it without the equivalent skills and expertise from all my colleagues in their areas of work.

If you could swap your job with anyone else’s within M&M, whose job would you want and why?

I would like to swap with our design team! They are very skilled at creating designs and making them a reality for our clients. It looks like an enjoyable part of the business and one which needs to be done to the highest standards so we can all follow suit in bringing the drawings to life.

Quality, Exclusive and Professional.

What has been your favourite project, day or moment while working for M&M and why?

I most enjoyed my visit to the local Children’s Hospice, CHAS, where we donated a garden room for the children and their families to use all year round. Seeing the impact this garden room would have on the families was hugely rewarding.

Pick 3 words to describe Mozolowski & Murray?

Pure, dead, brilliant.

What has been your favourite project, day or moment while working for M&M and why?

My favorite project was building a conservatory for a client whose design was simply outstanding. The job was challenging in both craftsmanship and build but it meant that the sense of achievement and reward in seeing the final result trumped all my other work. When the client said his expectations had been exceeded, and given his expectations were naturally very high to begin with, it was the icing on the cake.

Do you have an office nickname? What is it?

Grumpy Dave. Must be cos I don’t laugh at all the bad jokes!!

Do you recall any embarrassing moments at work?

Yes. I was taking out an old sash and case window in Dollar and just as I pulled down the top part of the window, a thick cloud of black dust fell on my head and covered me so all you could see were my eyes and teeth. This was to the amusement of a passerby who laughed all the way up the road.

If given a chance, who would you like to be for a day?

Charlie Sheen. Aside from his controversial personal life he has starred in and produced some great stuff.

I have a very physical job that means I work outdoors mainly in all weathers but I am meticulous about my work and am known for keeping a very tidy site.

If you could swap your job with anyone else’s within M&M, whose job would you want and why?

Anyone in management, as it would be nice to arrive and leave work clean and dry. This just never happens in my role!

If you could swap your job with anyone else’s within M&M, whose job would you want and why?

Our Building Services Manager and Surveyor, David Stein. Part of his remit is to perform quality control checks at the end of each job and it would be good to, instead of just checking over things from a painters’ perspective, to check the quality of each job as a whole.

Pick 3 words to describe Mozolowski & Murray?

Quality, Bespoke, Excellence

What has been your favourite project, day or moment while working for M&M and why?

I got a great deal of satisfaction from working on creating Scotland’s only Conservatory Design Centre in Edinburgh. Knowing that hundreds of people can come in and see the quality and standards of our work made it such a pleasure to be part of.  We are always proud of our work but to be able to bring so many different aspects of what we do to life on one job was brilliant.

Do you have an office nickname? What is it?

Ant!  From Ant and Dec.  Something to do with looking alike but I think it’s more to do with my celebrity like status within the company!

Do you recall any embarrassing moments at work?

Hmmm, would have to be arriving at a job early in the morning and accidently triggering the house alarm.  Nothing like making a discreet entrance.

If given a chance, who would you like to be for a day?

It’s not really who but what for me.  It would love to be a millionaire for just one day.

If you could interview one person (dead or alive) who would it be?

I like to play golf, going out with family and enjoying some fine red and white wine.

Name one thing about you that would surprise people.

I love to cook.

How long have you been with Mozolowski & Murray (M&M) and what is your role within the company?

I have been with the company for 7 years. My role is to assist clients in visualizing how Mozolowski & Murray can transform their homes. Our design consultants work with clients in developing the initial concept and I develop this into a fully functioning 3-dimensional model, which not only helps to alleviate any initial design issues, but it brings the design to life for our clients, giving them a real insight into how their structure will look in reality.

If you could swap your job with anyone else’s within M&M, whose job would you want and why?

I love understanding how things work. I think crafting and building complex roofs would be something I would really like to try. I would therefore swap with Andy Pye at the factory who creates the roofs for every Mozolowski & Murray project.

Pick 3 words to describe Mozolowski & Murray?

Together, hardworking, progressive

What has been your favorite project, day or moment while working for M&M and why?

One project springs to mind, which was when I worked with our Sales Consultant, Gordon Little on a large project, which needed to get off to a smooth start! Our clients were coming into the design centre the next morning, so I began working on designing an impressive panoramic 3d image of the conservatory, including an internal walk around as well. I wanted to ensure the clients had an early insight into what this project could achieve for them in terms of lifestyles but equally how this was going to complement their existing property. But as luck would have it, my software failed and I could not get it to work. Determined to turn this around, I stripped down my PC, swapped it over with another and connected it all back up to the server and screens.  What at one point seemed like a disaster, (and a very long night) ended up feeling like a massive sense of achievement, as the meeting went well and our clients are now enjoying their stunning conservatory.

Do you have an office nickname? If so, what is it and what’s the story behind it.

There are a number of colleagues who I work closely with, whose names begin with G, so we just call each other G (it keeps it simple)

Do you recall any embarrassing moments at work? Tell us about one

Once at the Christmas party I didn’t drink enough ‘water’, so on the journey back home to Edinburgh, I had to stop at a colleague’s house due to being significantly ‘dehydrated’ and not feeling all that well. A tad embarrassing looking back!

If given a chance, who would you like to be for a day and why?

Christopher Nolan (director). I would love to be a film director and have the freedom to create something great from only my imagination, with no restrictions on budget and with a great team helping me.

If you could interview one person (dead or alive) who would it be and why?

Ayrton Senna (Brazilian Motor racing champion), as he was a deeply religious man who didn’t let riches or successes stop his beliefs or him helping his fellow man. He is such an interesting person who once said after a race, that he felt god take over his body and did 3 of the fastest laps ever recorded.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I enjoy Golf and tennis, although I don’t spend enough time doing them. I also enjoy spending time with friends and family and try to enjoy life as much as possible.

Name one thing about you that would surprise people.

I am dyslexic, although it might not surprise that many people. I always struggled with reading and writing at school, but in some ways, looking back, I think of it as being a blessing more than a hindrance.

How long have you been with Mozolowski & Murray (M&M) and what is your role within the company?

I have been with the company for 18 months as their Customer Service Advisor.

If you could swap your job with anyone else’s within M&M, whose job would you want and why?

Coming from a sales background I would like to gain an insight into the sales aspect of the company.  Working with clients at the very start of the process to agree on their ideal Mozolowski & Murray design, I think, would be a very rewarding part of the job, as would seeing the product finished and being enjoyed by your clients. While the sales environment can be challenging, I think it can also be very satisfying.

Pick 3 words to describe Mozolowski & Murray?

What has been your favourite project, day or moment while working for M&M and why?

Do you have an office nickname? If so, what is it and what’s the story behind it.

Isa. (from Still Game) As we live in a fairly small town, it has been drawn to my attention that I often ask people, “Do you know?!”

No, thankfully! And I hope to keep it that way.

Me! As a mother, wife and taxi driver to my two boys, it would be great to just be me for a day.

If you could interview one person (dead or alive) who would it be and why?

Alex Ferguson.  As a young Scot who had to work hard to reach the level he did in football, I find him very knowledgeable.  The fact that he achieved his place in working with and shaping some of the worlds greatest footballers, makes him one of the most successful managers of all time.

He is an inspiration to any up and coming football player.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

As a mother of two sons who both play pro youth football at different clubs, I spend a lot of my time watching them both play and train.  I also spend time as Secretary/Organiser for a local football team.  True Soccer Mum!
