Stores Assistant

How long have you been with Mozolowski & Murray (M&M) and what is your role within the company?

I have been with Mozolowski and Murray for just over a year and a half and my role within the company is working in stores. This involves placing orders for products that are required for each job, such as glass and guttering etc. and for equipment that the site guys need to do their jobs. I also unload deliveries using the forklift and book deliveries into our system. I ensure the factory and our yard is always clean and tidy and make sure everything is in the correct place.

If you could swap your job with anyone else’s within M&M, whose job would you want and why?

I think if I was to swap my job with someone else at Mozolowski and Murray, it would have to be Nikky Miller, because since I started working with the company, I have always looked up to Nikky, as she is one of the most hardworking employees at Mozolowski & Murray and has so much passion for her role and for the company. Nikky manages our HR, Accounts and IT operations.

Pick 3 words to describe Mozolowski & Murray?

Organised, high quality and unique.

What has been your favourite project, day or moment while working for M&M and why?

I think my favourite project was when I did my SVQ in warehousing because I learned a great deal from it and it has taught me the value of being more organised which positively impacts on my working day.

Do you have an office nickname? If so, what is it and what’s the story behind it.

I don’t really have a nickname. Some of the site guys call me ‘big R’ but I’m not sure why and probably best not to ask!

Do you recall any embarrassing moments at work? Tell us about one

My most embarrassing moment at work has to be when I got the forklift stuck in the mud at the back of our yard and had to ask one of the builders to pull it out with a digger.

If given a chance, who would you like to be for a day and why?

If I could be anyone for a day, it would have to be an ice hockey goalie called Marc Andre Fleury as he is an amazing goaltender and I would love to know how it feels to play at the highest level of ice hockey in the world.

If you could interview one person (dead or alive) who would it be and why?

If I could interview anyone it would have to be an ice hockey player called Sidney Crosby as he is one of the greatest ice hockey players in Canada and I have always pushed myself to be as good a player as he is.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Outside of work I enjoy going to watch an ice hockey team called the Fife Flyers, who play at Kirkcaldy ice rink. I also like cleaning my car and socialising with friends now and again.

Name one thing about you that would surprise people.

I think the one thing that surprises people the most about me is how much I like spending time with my family rather than going out with my friends. Given I am so young, I think they expect it to be the other way around.

We’re proud of our heritage…

Mozolowski & Murray was established at the end of World War 2 by Polish national, Henri Mozolowski. Henri fought with the British Army in Europe and made his home in Scotland after the war.
An electrician to trade, Henri set up Mozolowski and Son. The post war economic boom enabled Henri to significantly expand his enterprise and he was quickly employing a large workforce and building a strong industry reputation. In the 1960s he again expanded his business, adding joinery and general building trades to his Fife based firm. He built a workshop crafting timber doors, windows, staircases and furniture as demand increased and the business continued to grow.

Sustainability is central to what we do. Whether it’s how we source our materials, the properties of our insulation or the thermal efficiency of our glass we aim to be market leaders in sustainable design and build.
