The brief

Our clients wanted more space and light with a place they could sit and enjoy the views of the garden, whatever the weather. With the extension leading from the kitchen, our clients were keen to use the space for dining but also be able to shut the kitchen off so the space could become a relaxing lounge area, away from the hustle and bustle of the main house.

The outcome

With a south facing position, it was important to maximise the natural light already enjoyed on this aspect of the building, but also create a design that was in-keeping with the existing style of their home. We designed the extension to incorporate a solid monopitch (slate) fully insulated roof in line with the existing style of roof but added three velux windows to let more light through. Instead of solid walls, we used floor to ceiling glass windows, panels and doors, again, to fill the space with light but also to frame the garden view beautifully and create a seamless connection between the extension and the outdoors. We added stunning bi-fold doors between the kitchen and the extension to create the perfect choice between open plan or a separate space. With inbuilt sound systems and dimmer activated down lights, the look, feel and purpose of this extension highlights the benefits of bespoke design, where you can select your preferred styles, materials and lifestyle choices and create the perfect addition to your home. This is, the best of bespoke!
