The brief

Our clients had taken on a traditional property that required extensive renovation. They had employed an architect to help shape their vision for their new home and asked us to work closely with him in creating a large glass and stone extension that would match the existing style of property. The purpose of the extension was to provide a brand new living, kitchen and dining space with an industrial design within the dining room, where the stunning gardens and river could be enjoyed from every aspect.

The Outcome

The architect provided us with his design and we brought this vision to life within four months. We used our own stonemasons to ensure we matched the existing house and created a timber portal design to support the roof. We had large steel beams (which we encased in timber while leaving the metal bolts exposed, as specified by our clients) individually craned in and positioned into place. We worked in unison with the kitchen company and a technology team who fitted the extension with state of the art lighting, security and sound systems throughout. In order to capture the gardens from every aspect, we positioned the extension to the side elevation where large glass panels, bi-fold doors and glass balustrades allowed a seamless connection to the stunning gardens and view of the river below. Our clients have told us that despite having a large family home, they practically live in their extension. We have since designed and built a luxury garden living suite for guest accommodation at the bottom of their garden.
