The brief

Living within this stunning traditional building, our clients wanted a touch of modern living and asked us to design an open plan living, dining, kitchen space that would give a light and modern feel on the inside but reflect the tradition of the property on the outside. With beautiful leafy surroundings it was important to feature as much glass as possible but without ending up with a design which was too contemporary for this style of property.

The outcome

Within just 10 weeks, our clients’ were dining in true five star surroundings. This period style extension was transformed from a small kitchen, separated from the main living space, to a light, comfortable and inclusive space to be enjoyed for every occasion. It was important to ensure the property wasn’t compromised by a modern external design as this traditional property could be viewed easily from the road, so we built the extension using stone to match what was already there and featured a large capola lantern in the centre of the roof for that orangery style classic look and feel. We designed and built a stone fireplace in the centre of the room adding a stunning feature to this luxurious space. The capola lantern glass roof design, floor to ceiling windows and patio doors means this extension is flooded with natural light all year round.
