Ballogie House Hotel

Luxury Exclusive use events space   |   Classic Orangery design   |   Dual Colour design for diverse use

"A Transformational addition to our business"

Ballogie Estate is a place of stunning natural beauty lying on the south side of the River Dee in Royal Deeside, Aberdeenshire, with a number of self-catering properties and a stunning country house, accommodating up to 14 guests for exclusive use events.

A popular choice for weddings, as well as corporate and charity events, it was felt that Ballogie House had the potential to accommodate larger weddings and events by extending the house to provide more space and to capitalise on its idyllic position and location, all year round.

Asked why Ballogie House approached Mozolowski & Murray, the Estate’s Property Manager, Lewis Gray said:

“We wanted to ensure we employed a reputable company that could deliver a bespoke and quality product which would be sensitively designed to complement the existing style of house and its natural setting.”

Mozolowski & Murray designed a stunning Orangery that could provide all the modern conveniences of an all season commercial space, but that was sympathetic to the tradition of the existing building and its surrounding natural beauty. With the Orangery being used mainly for weddings, it was important to create a light, airy and visually stunning space which could easily adapt to all types and styles of wedding, while taking full advantage of the stunning views.

“Before the Orangery was added, there was no access to the rear of the property where you could enjoy the wonderful views across the parkland and mature trees of the surrounding estate. So, Mozolowski & Murray incorporated two sets of double patio doors to the front of the Orangery, which now open out onto the raised patio area with glass balustrade, providing direct access to the garden and views. The Orangery has given the property an extra dimension, making the space a perfect location for intimate ceremonies and special occasions in a secluded, peaceful and intimate environment.” Continued Mr Gray.

The Orangery now provides a seamless connection from the house to the gardens and makes it a more attractive option for hosting a wide range of events and not just in the summer months where Marquees were used, but all year round. The quality and design ensured that nothing other light would flood into the Orangery, even on the dullest of days.
Within 6 months of completion, Ballogie House was already seeing a return on its investment, hiring the house out to a larger and much more diverse clientele. While weddings do make up the majority of business at Ballogie House, the Orangery has opened up opportunities for a wider variety of events ranging from luxury private lets and charity events to corporate hire and private special occasions, in what is a truly unique setting.

Ballogie House sleeps 14 guests and with the Orangery in place, can accommodate between 40-60 guests depending on the style and theme of the occasion.

Due to existing renovation work on Ballogie House, the property was closed throughout the Orangery build but asked about scheduling and overall experience Mr Gray said:

“The work did not affect our existing business as the property was closed for renovation but our experience with Mozolowski & Murray was extremely positive. They set out their start and end date in advance of work commencing on site and there was positive communication between ourselves and the Mozolowski & Murray team throughout. The project was completed on schedule.”

Consistent feedback about the Orangery from guests centred around its calming ambience and the fact that they could still enjoy the views and connect to the magnificent gardens in any weather, which in Scotland, is a significant benefit.

Concluding, Mr Gray told Mozolowski & Murray:

“We were delighted with M&M’s product, service and performance and we would be more than happy to work with them again.”
